Masaichi Kudo was born in 1929 (Showa 4), a photographer who died at the age of 84 in 2014.
He continued to shoot the scenery and people of Aomori, who was born and raised, and spent their lives, and after posting to the camera magazine in the 1950s, ended his life without even informing his family.The family discovered a huge bunch of negatives.When the scanned image was uploaded to Instagram, it is a “discovery story” that has been a global response.
It is not a record photo like “Showa’s nostalgic Aomori”, nor is it an attempt to raise a problem with a realism photograph proposed by Ken Domon in the 1950s, but a brilliant activity of Kojima Kojima, who developed a brilliant activity at the same time.It was not a picture of the strictness of Aomori produced by the dark room work.
However, cutting out the moment of everyday joy, happiness and loneliness and sadness around you.That may have been “emphasis of poverty” to local people, and Tokyo’s photographic world may have said that “Aomori’s poorness is not enough.”Underlying, there should have been a strong prejudice and discriminatory awareness of Tokyo people who could not imagine now, which could not be imagined now.The local desire to show Aomori, “I want to see Aomori this way” is not given to Tokyo’s prejudice, but there are half the photos sealed by Masaichi Kudo, “I did not belong anywhere.”A miracle that revives while passing through the century.
